Just got off the toilette' dropping the kids off at the pool. A thought came to mind when I heard a commercial for HD tv. So the human eye can see a certain quality of images. Look outside and how would you categorize the quality you see? So you get a 11 hundred thousand (1100,000) mega pixel camera and take a picture.

Your camera can take such a perfect quality photo but would your eyes/brain tell the difference?

Just a question. Any import?

I think there would be a limit. We would only be able to process so much, the much smaller fine details would go unnoticed. And people have different vision quality to begin with.

Yes that would be much more accurate then anything are eyes could possibly detect.

But an image can never be the same as in real life not even if its 10^1000000000000000000000000000000 mega pixels

We would be able to tell the difference because we have depth perception. A picture will never give the illusion of depth unless specially designed. I mean I'd like a camera like that no doubt. But no exchange for the rel thing.

Actually that's a limitation of (most) monitors (which can be gotten around with relatively cheap accessories), and not a problem with digital images.

Of course I was just thinking about camera do take a quality of picture that the human eye couldn't see such as X-Ray. But the camera would process it to something we could see... so it's really not what is there really.

Then another comparison. mp3's. You could have a sound quality of 1,500kbps but the human ear wouldn't be able to tell the difference and the sound system you are using would have to be fairly advanced to produce the quality in the first place.

The limitation of a pixel is about 100x the size of an atom
maybe even less

I would say no. Nothing can beat the human eye because the human eye does not use pixels. Pixels alone are small but other things are made up of atoms. the smallest unit in the universe. Think about it. How would you get a pixel the size of an atom? Human eye defeats all.

You can't see an atom with the naked eye
You can't see an ant on a tree 100 yards away, but it's getting close to the point where a camera can, even un-zoomed

This is a great question with lots of debate, I will probably look up some information or something about this. I truely want to ask many people this question, go to random people and ask them this question. But of course different vision matters, yet notice how cameras can get more detail then most of are eyes can.

@VP I think the camera has past are eye pixels or not the camera can get more then your eye can

It would be so small it would blend in very well. thats what normal pixels do

I think another point is that we have peripheral vision as a camera doesn't. The camera has depth perception like we (aka focusing on an object of different distance).... I forgot where I was going with this..

No. It's a limitation of most monitors, but can be easily gotten around. Nothing to do with digital images, (which is a much much broader category, since it stands for all visual data that can be stored in a computer).

What exactly are you trying to say? Do you mean that a digital image has to be narrow?

I think he means that a picture needs to be blury on the sides and it has to be circular 2

Not really. Just like real life isn't blurry and circular.

If you look at a digital image using your full sight (E.G. up close enough and/or with a big enough screen that it occupies your entire field of view) it will look like that to. The image itself is not supposed to be like that. It's that you see it that way.
