The registration period of the SCHT is now closed, and no more applicants will be accepted. Congratulations to our 25 Contestants! Over the course of the next month and a half, they will be facing off in 1v1 matches trying to best 2 of 3 matches overall for the Grand Prize of $150 USD!

Throughout this week, the initial pairing up and scheduling of matches will commence, so contestants, be sure to check your emails frequently! Each race can only use units from the respective race. Which means we need your help keeping it balanced!

Obviously, we can't actually reproduce the game in text form, but we can try! This is very simple, we carefully selected units, icons and stats for each race. You can pick your race, build up your army using GhoztPoints and attack other members!

This first round is going to be a testing round, to see how each race plays out. I encourage everyone to give it a try, it's like no other Army System!

As of August 6th, 2009 Ghoztcraft is officially four years old. In August 2008 when Ghoztcraft turned three, we had reached 10 million hits in one month, and we've now peaked at 13 million in one month, and now average about 10-11 million.

Another great milestone for this year is reaching 500,000 logged downloads. This means the files in our great download database have been downloaded over 500 thousand times which mean's we've provided terabytes of data to our visitors.

Last but not least, we're now at around 20,000 members registered here at Ghoztcraft with now over 150,000 topics and posts. And we've now topped 300 VIP Members (including expired accounts) which has helped pay for this great hosting we have.

Myself and the staff here take great pride in our massive collection of downloads and our great community. But it's close to impossible for us to monitor or check every single post, download or upload. As of today, we get millions of hits per month, and we're close to having the files in our downloads downloaded half a million times. You can help us, by reporting any suspicious post, or download as soon as you see something that should be flagged. While we do make an effort to seek and destroy any malicious content, it's very close to impossible for us to catch each and every spec of dust.

Ghoztcraft makes any effort to represent the author of the download to the files in our downloads database. Without the authors, the downloads would not be possible. We have the up most respect for such authors and make efforts to maintain valid credibility.

If you see a file in the downloads to which the author is misrepresented, please report the file or contact myself or the staff here. We did not do it on purpose and would never obscure such information from our community or guests.

We make an effort to keep the private information we collect from you, a secret and secure. So anyway, here's what I changed..

I fixed a bug in IE6 where the transparent png images were not displaying correctly. I've since updating the scripting and now it works flawlessly. Although, I still really don't recommend browsing the website using IE6. Upgrade to IE8, or use Firefox.

I've replaced a bunch of content with ajax, so now things load a little quicker. This is because the content is pulled AFTER the page is loaded and not during. Sometimes it can take time to pull information from the database, and so now it makes the query after the page is loaded. And most of the time, it's data that you don't really need to see. On the index page, the stats in the top right are now loaded with ajax. And on the forums portal, the server stats are also loaded with ajax.

I've re-arranged some of the forums, thanks to the feedback you guys provided. I've combine the spam board with the flame board, Combine the "Other" section(s) with "The Lounge". And I've updated various titles and subtitles of the forums. Any many other minor changes.

The other skins now also have scrolling signatures, per your request, of course. If I missed a skin or something doesn't look quite right then post on this topic and I'll correct it.

And as the new download manager, thanks to myself and the help of.. Lieutenant Speedskater, ProSlasher, XGhozt, Rdy2Killz, Vozzie, Gloopie we were able to fix them!

Apparently all the 1.16.1 Downloads where either corrupted or deleted on accident at some point. So, as a community we pulled together to conquer the world! ..I mean, re-add the downloads.

Anyway, the Starcraft 1.16.1 downloads have been updated and re-added.

Okay, so, we need Download Managers. Our downloads are sadly out of date. But the good news is that you don't need to be a download manager to add downloads to our database. Simply click the submit download link in the downloads to add a download.

So, the only staff application position open as of now is for being a Download Manager. Anyone who is a mod already can apply for this position and have it as a sub-group. Either way, I'm looking for a good 5-8 people doing this at a same time. So your chance of getting approved is pretty high.

We're not approving anyone we don't trust or who doesn't have at least 500 posts and/or is well known among the community here.

I just wanted to get this post in to say that we plan on redoing the staff and picking up some new staff members soon. Me and the admins need to go over the current staff now and respectively demod inactive users. We appreciate the time and effort the moderators of Ghoztcraft put into the website. You're what keep things in order around here.

If you're worried we might demod you please send me a PM letting us know you're still alive. If we demod you when you think we shouldn't have go ahead and send us a PM and we'll discuss the changes and /or reinstate you.

As for everyone else, the staff applications will be open once we're done. You'll be able to sign up to be a moderator. I want to make this clear to everyone. Being a mod here is a respected position and comes with it is the responsibility to represent this website. I don't make the approvals, but I have the last say. The other mods and retired staff are the ones who vote on your ability to moderate here. Keep that in mind, kissing my ass wont necessarily help you become a mod.

I look forward to the next couple of weeks while we get things in order. I suspect shortly after we'll see the new mods clean up the site a little. I especially hope to get a ton more download mods and get all the downloads updated. Please post your questions or comments on this thread.

If you haven't notice already we have made some new changes in the Graphic sections of the forums. We have added a few new sub forums in the competitions area. We are really excited about this. I have added a few new competitions that we didn't recently have.

The first is, Signature of the Week (SOTW): Weekly signature competitions that most of us are already familiar with.

The second is Large Art of the Fortnight (LAOTF): How it works;

1. The entries topic will open on Monday where everyone will be able to enter their LPs. The entries topic will then close the next Friday. So you have 11 days to finish your artwork and 3 days of voting (this can be changed). To qualify as "Large Art", the size of your work must be larger than 400x400 pixels.

2. Then over the weekend we will have votes on the winner. We will be giving out prizes for winners, like 5,000 GP for first place and down from there to third place. (still being decided)

(FYI: Fortnight means 14 consecutive days.)

The third is GC Photography Competitions: Pretty much what it says. This is a monthly photography competition. So get out there and use your camera. There will be no photo manipulations, save your manipulations for the LAOTF competition.

The fourth is Battle Arena: Here you can challenge others to a design war! These are 1v1 competitions. This is the part of the forums where you guys can battle it out with your sigs and large pieces, in order to win Ghoztpoints from each other.

I will be writing the rules for each of these competitions in the next few days, and pinning them in the appropriate area. If you have any questions about these improvements please post your questions here in this thread.

The only change made to Staff rules, is as follows; Staff Members are only allowed into the Retired Staff group if they have at least 100 mod actions and 3 months of time served.

One major new rule, you will notice, is the new signature limitations. Simply put, if you're sig is too big and otherwise annoying, it will be removed. So anyone with a sig that doesn't meet the minimim dimensions, please update it.

And last but not least, we need a new mod for the Steam Games section, please contact XGhozt or myself if you're interested. We will be updating our Points System soon, all AS Admins have been de-modded, this is nothing personal, we just won't need you.

After months of waiting (which I appologize for) - I've finally updated the Firefox Added "Ghoztcraft Menu" which adds a menu to the menubar of Firefox for easy access to various parts of the site.

You can download and install or update the Ghoztcraft Firefox Extension by going to the forums portal and clicking on "Install Extension!". This will prompt you to allow Ghoztcraft and install the plugin. You will need to restart your browser to see the changes. The addon is also located here.

I've got some good news. I finally spent the time to just fix all the damn errors myself. It took me a few hours but I tracked them down and corrected them. There was an error which broke the My Assistant, and a few typo's in the code regarding member display names. Some template errors and I updated the settings.

The shoutbox is VIP Only, if you're a VIP Member and do not see the shoutbox please let me know. Also note that I deleted all of the old shouts. And, if anyone see's any errors that I missed, please let me know as soon as possible.

As of August 6th, 2008; Ghoztcraft is officially 3 years old. The first time I created Ghoztcraft was on 08-06-2005. In the last year we've literally doubled our hits if you take a look at our post from last year. And a few weeks ago I posted out about 10 million milestone. I must say, it's a dream come true to see the site as active as it is.

Around the same time Gc turned 3, we also managed to hit 10,000 members. Which is also a nice milestone to remember. So what do you say Ghoztcraft, can we hit 20,000 members and 20 million hit's next year?

We've got some amazing news you've all been waiting to read about. After 3 months of planning, coordination and hard work, we're finally ready to announce the StarCraft Hackers Tournament. Everyone can sign up and join the Tournament. You'll be faced with a series of "hacker vs hacker" style game play on our custom map. You'll be using hacks in 3 rounds against another hacker. An Admin will be preset for each game, as well as observers and every match will be broadcast live over the Game Hackers Union Radio.

You can read all about this, including, rules, common questions, a gallery, videos, our sponsors and a place to register, here. Please do keep in mind, we're putting a limit on the max amount of players accepted, and that's 200 or before July 20th. Once everything has been coordinated with the players the matches will begin. Each match will be recorded and scheduled in our Calender.

We've got a big announcement! Due do the amount of resources it now takes to manage and maintain this website, it's members, downloads and services. A new position is now available at Ghoztcraft. This is (or could be) a rather enjoyable one. It's title is "News Manager". What you will be doing is.. well.. Managing the News at Ghoztcraft.net. The idea is simple. We will provide an email and RSS Account to manage any news you need to review. As you find interesting articles of news you post them on the site in the appropriate News Forum.

This includes gaming news, world news and other news. And when requested, Ghoztcraft's News. You'll be able to manage that entire section, approve, edit/delete other topics/posts which members post and you'll be responsible for keeping it organized and up to date.

There are some good things about being a News Manager. You get to read lot's of news and I can guarantee you'll learn something. You'll find lot's of cool software, read all kinds of articles and keep up with todays latest gaming news, world news, and interesting facts. And of course, post them on Ghoztcraft, which means a high post count for you.

So, anyone interested, sign up here. There are no basic requirements, but I will be the one approving the applications. Goodluck. I'm also not sure how many of you I'll pick, but be assured that this "job" will take time to do, and can't be done sloppy.

The Ghoztcraft Army System is currently online. It has been down due to technical difficulties. Remember this is still under construction, please notify any bugs to me as I will take care of them as soon as possible. Please do not abuse or otherwise take advantage any bugs either.

Please also note that everyone's Ghoztpoints and clans have been reset. This is to make it all fair. Simply join the army system or post around to gain some more. You can use these points to build up your army and fortress to attack other players. Be the best and keep your name at the top of the ranking list!

I would like to apologize for downtime and lagging frustrations. Trust me, I am the most frustrated person while dealing with this. The Purgehosting.com server (hosting Ghoztcraft.net) was recently upgraded to Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.2.6. After doing so, many websites and scripts stopped working because of the new security features. However, most of them have now been fixed, so hopefully we don't get anymore downtime.

Also, when the server goes down, feel free to message me and let me know. I may not respond, but I did get your message. So anyway, just so that everyone knows whats going on. The server is/was being upgraded and things just need to be tweaked out until they're good for the server (in plain English). I can't say not to expect more downtime/lag, but expect less.

So pretty much the message is "bear with us while we improve our services". Also, feel free to post any errors, bugs, or glitches you find around the site so we can fix them. It's hard to find all of them.

If you haven't already noticed, the shoutbox got a major overhaul today. Over the last few days I've been working on getting it setup for Ghoztcraft. It was created by InfernoTechnologies and this is what I was able to get in trade for the InfernoRPG. Remember, we had a vote with what to do with it, and we came to the conclusion that we should sell it and buy something else for the site. Well, here you go.

So, check out the shoutbox, try out the new features, it may take some getting used to, but I'm sure you'll love it and it will grow on you. It's still in BETA, so there ARE bugs and they will get fixed over the next few weeks. You can refer to this help topic for more information.

I'm proud to announce that after over 12 hours of slave work my home redesign is done. I have been sketching out layouts in paint for the last two weeks trying to figure out how exactly I wanted to do this. I wanted a home page because now you can easily read all the news in one place (powered by ajax) and have a simple place which links o all of our best pages.

When I asked people for a review, 9/10 times the first word from their keyword was "wow, sexy". I hope you enjoy it. It's my design, I did the layout and all the buttons from scratch, etc..

I've got some good news and some bad news for you. First the bad news because everyone needs to know these things, then the good news because we know you love my good news.

The bad:
We've got a few problems with the site right now from the back end. Apparently there's some whitespace added to every page (giant space of nothing in the source). And until I figure out where it's coming from various things around the site are broken. Including the exported RSS feeds.

Another problem, is that an attached image to a post doesn't load.

I'll get this fixed as fast as I can as soon as I figure out what caused all the problems!


The good:
The Uploader is public again for a limited time only. Sign up now and upload and share our files publicly. This includes images, files and more. You can create and manage your folders, the script automatically creates the img code for you to post your uploaded images.

The Ghoztcraft VIP Shoutbox is now public, this may not last however, so use it while you can. This also means there are new Shoutbox rules. Do not flame in the shoutbox and no posting huge images. HTML is also no longer allowed.

Cripp and I spent some time reviewing the staff and made some necessary changes. Now we've got some open positions that we need you to fill. Right now we need a Graphics Moderator, Programming Moderator and Starcraft Moderator. If you're interested in joining the staff, click the Join Staff link found around the site and select your desired position.

Once you send you're staff application it will take about 1-2 weeks for the staff to discuss whether or not to accept your application.

There was an error with the Downloads System that prevented a user from submitting a file that was over 8MB. This has been fixed and I was able to successfully upload a 22mb file. A max, you should be able to upload as much as 60MB without any problems.

The CommunitySEO script was updated, but there are a few bugs with the system. Any lo-fi topics don't load correctly and will redirect to the board index. All other small bugs have been fixed. Topics should get a slightly faster load time as of about a week ago, disabled a few server side feature.

The gaming forums have changed a bit. There are new forums, and new icons for the forums. They've been moved around into different categories and this has been requested for a while. So check it out and start populating the new forums!

The default tab in the Profile View is now the Signature. Expect the layout from the Ghoztcraft Skin to be transfered to the other skins within the week. Changing the default tab to the signature allows for a quicker page load and helps with browser compatibility problems.

Please vote on what to do with the InfernoRPG! I don't have time to manage it and anyone I've tried to pass it on to has found it far too complicated and time consuming. It was a 100 dollar script and it's not worth just having lay around, if I sell it we can use the money to get something else for the site.

Okay, I just spent a few hours redoing the proxy. I know it was seriously screwed up and really slow, etc.. Anyway, it's much faster now and it looks really nice!

Try loading a few pages, most of the sites should load pretty quickly. I was testing it out and the major pages like Yahoo, Myspace, Google and MSN load in under 6 seconds, which is pretty nice for a proxy.
