StarCraft II Closed Beta Launches This Month

Finally, for real, the StarCraft II beta is about to begin. Activision Blizzard president Mike Morhaime announced today during a company earnings call that the closed beta of the highly-anticipated real-time strategy game will launch this month.

The beta will be offered in North America, Europe, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand and, of course, the place where StarCraft II is just about a national pastime, South Korea. Morhaime said the beta would be accessible by thousands of players and used to gather feedback and generate excitement.

The game itself is expected to launch in mid-2010.

StarCraft II has been in development for several years. The original StarCraft was launched in 1998.

Maybe we will be able to use the beta to see how hard it is to make hacks for SC2 once the game comes out

I'm not going to try to beta test. I lost hopes for StarCraft II already.

Yes, you may.

One of the only reason I still play StarCraft: BW is that I started when I was pretty young, around 10ish, and if I started it now I probably wouldn't get into it at all. And I'm getting the feeling I won't get into SC: II all that well at this point, I hope I'm proven wrong but I won't know until it is released. So I don't mind waiting out the beta and there might be some things that keep me quite busy in the next few months - year.

If someone gets beta test make sure you leak it to VIP :o If it is to be possible.

I'm pretty sure it's online only and with a beta key. If I remember correctly, you can't even play SC2 without first logging on.

Actually the beta key is automatically added to your battle.net account and you have to use that account to logon to the beta. Even if you wanted to leak it, you couldn't without sharing the account, which knowing what VIP here is like it will either get leaked to other sites or email and pass changed. And yes it's only online for now, although you can change you handle by logging out at the bottom left.

To any one who isn't SVIP but is VIP... if you get beta and feel like sharing your account with us at ghoztcraft (Mainly for hack making purposes...) We will surely consider making you a SVIP member....

*Operating system: Windows 2.6.0.6002 (SP 2)
