Got A Trojan/virus

Recommended Posts

Im running on a windows XP Compaq computer.

The virus appeared like 2 days ago.

Normally I can easily get rid of these things but this time I keep deleting portions but they always come back.

A self regenerating virus or trojan. =\

I need big big help.

The virus adds a triangle with an exclamation mark in my toolbar.

It constantly gives fake virus or spyware warning such as saying i have myzor.

It periodically opens up IE sending me to rogue antivirus sites.

I need help big time here!!!

Also the triangle only shows up after my computer connects to internet.

Ive tried scanning while in safety mode.

So far Norton has quarantine over 3 different files more than once and they keep coming back!!

><

Oh I remember that thing, what a pain in the ass. If I remember correctly it's just an exe and something stored in the registry. You can't delete it using a system restore. And honestly, everyone should know that most virsus embed them selves into the system restore, so doing a system restore literally does nothing but duplicate the virus.

I don't have a solution right now, but this is what I did last time I fixed the problem on someones computer: I Googled in quotations the message that the stupid icon was displaying. If it goes away too fast take a screenshot while it's up and then type it from the screeny. I don't remember the site I found but that should be something to help get you started.

Hope that helps, goodluck.

Hey, register at the FORUMS at http://www.geekstogo.com/ , not the main website, otherwise when you try to login, it won't work. Once you register, make a post about the problems your having, and they'll be sure to write out an entire tutorial and to help you until your problem is solved. They are extremely helpful. I had several issues with my old computer, and every one of them was solved by following tutorials written by GeeksToGo Staff.

To be honest i have not made backup CDs or anything lol.

I always watch what i DL. D=

By the way i cant burn the windows image to a cd cause magiciso wont burn anything over 300 MB.

Maybe someone knows of a free program that will burn uif images over 300MB?

I aways have firewall on when im surfing the net.

The virus seems to have infected all my exes nows.

When explorer.exe is open no exe will open up.

I have to close explorer.exe for anything to run and sometimes task manager wont even respond >.>
