Well at least you got an MP3 player free of charge, and that's sort of like a gift, just in a different sense. Maybe you should ask for a new skateboard or something in that area, since from your profile, it appears you like to skateboard. Getting money is also an option, I'd doubt she'd give you less in money than in gifts though, but from your parents point of view, giving money is pretty boring and unexciting compared to getting your kids gifts.

I have an acoustic and a bass, and for punching bag, it would relieve my anger but at the same time my dad would think he's promoting me to fight and he wouldn't want to do that.
