Pidgin (multi Im)

Recommended Posts

Yeah...very good multi-IM program, aside from the fact that the newest release likes to crash on me randomly...>___>. However though, that aside, it supports over 200 buddies (I have over 2 THOUSAND on it) over all clients, as well as multiple-logins for a single client, such as MSN, which is not normally possible (try running two MSN messengers, wont work). It supports

  • AIM
  • Bonjour
  • Gadu-Gadu
  • Google Talk
  • Groupwise
  • ICQ
  • IRC
  • MSN
  • MySpaceIM
  • QQ
  • SILC
  • SIMPLE
  • Sametime
  • XMPP
  • Yahoo!
  • Zephyr

So yeah...I think it's pretty good. Been using it for a while. Pretty customizable too if you have the time. Comes with a nice amount of semi-decent plugins by default.

Pidgin owns the shit out of Trillian. As soon as Digsby can use IRC then Digsby will be my main client. It's still to early for me to start using it, but it's social networking and email integration is top notch. Digby idles on like 200mb of ram if you actually use all of it's features (which sucks) - so I'm also waiting on some RAM optimizing.

Aside from that, pidgin idles on 40mb of ram with the 76 plugins I've got in my plugin folder. I'll upload them for you: http://upload.Ghoztcraft.net/files/1/Compresed/plugins.rar

Because meebo is a web application, not only do I not trust it, I don't get to keep my chat logs, and I don't get even 1/3 of the features I would with a desktop application. It's nice when you're out at someones house or a work or something, that's it.

If you don't use MSN messenger then you not important enough for me

I tried Trillian for a long time. I liked it but I hardly enough any of the other IM's. So I just stuck with MSN.
