I wrote this for creative writing class at school:

It's more powerful when i read it, but what the hey.

 

 

High Stakes

Buy in, then sell out

Prepare for the Rat Race

Put on your poker Face

You're in the right place

Social Downfall was the case

 

Ante up, Homie

This means nothing to you

You're just another citizen droning through

You'll never get a clue

The world's sick with disease, and it ain't the flu

 

It's time to ante up, Kid

We promise its just a drop or two

Technology is advanced

and the casualties will be few

 

So just check this hand, and maybe the next

Don't try to play, you're cards aren't the best

 

Ante up, Bro

But fold out of the game

You don't want in, your life will never be the same

 

But I'm telling you different

We've got an improved game plan

We are getting back to our roots

And sticking it to the man

 

I'm here to educate

Possibly Make you appreciate

and Possibly help you navigate

Our future away from this black hole

Sick of leaders without souls

And leaving us out in the bitter cold

All for the sake of silver and gold

 

It's true about knowlege

It can make you strong

But knowledge doesn't corrupt

Only power sings that song

 

So go ahead, honey

You're going to pay in blood

The poor still give up the money

But we are ready for the shove

 

So raise the stakes a bit, dude

Your cards are golden

Its all in your hand

Don't sit there foldin'

Don't listen to the media

He's just the mouth of evil

Greed is his church and power his steeple

 

You've got a full house

Aces to kings

Throw down some chips

And step into the ring

 

So ante up, homie

Its time to make a play

Don't hold back what you have to say

For once the rich will pay

 

Now you're all in

Ready to expose their sins

Welcome to the real rat race

the world may be a sad place

But slap a smile over your poker face

Politics may be a disgrace

But now you're ready, your fate isn't sealed

This game just gets more real

Shuffle up and Deal.

 

 

It might be hard to grasp, but when the announcement came that Bush's administration exaggerated and lied for sure, i decided to write about that, since it struck close to my heart. Then it turned out that not one media outlet that i saw covered it, except for the ones no one cares to pay attention to. It's enough to say it made me sick to my stomach over what had happened to the country socially.

 

All comments and critique are immensely appreciated. I have yet to find anyone on a forum that ever responds to anything i post regarding Literature. If people do like this, I have a lot of other assignments i could post up for reading.
