Speedskater 167 Posted March 10, 2011 Alright so I currently have over a month of freetime on my hands. This sort of thing usually happens around this time of year and I usually try and find something to pass time. I've done a few things like ceramics, welding, "magic" tricks that sucked, creative writing, or some O.Y.O studying. Anyway I need a hobby to pass the time. besides the stupid collection of stamps or coins, or 24/7 porn (because I know someone would of said it). Any suggestions? Share this post Link to post
Gloopie 70 Posted March 10, 2011 When I have free time... One of my hobbies is pyrotechnics.. Really fun to get into... Maybe you should try it? Not hard and extremely satisfying. A new hobby I plan on doing is making these keychains that involve clear resin casting and tritium... You can actually make some really good cash off this, a keychain usually runs for about 25-200$? Depending on size etc... (tritium is rather expensive for a vile though :/). Give them a shot, if you would like. Here are some examples I found on the internet... (ALSO TRITIUM AKA H^3, is a radioactive element, which makes it even COOOLER!!!! Harmless though. xD) Few other hobbies I do is modding and fixing xbox 360s. TL;DR So here are some choices, I SUGGEST you doing! -Pyrotechnics -Creating Tritium keychains -Programming....? -Photoshop!!!! -Starcraft 2 8) ALSO, this place... http://www.instructables.com/tag/type-id/category-technology/ Share this post Link to post
ViperSRT3g 224 Posted March 10, 2011 On a side note, we use tritium in our ACOGs to light up the reticle when there's not much available light around. I just might try this keychain thing... Looks pretty interesting. Also: 1. Find something you like to do. 2. Get really really good at whatever it is. 3. Teach others about your hobby. 4. ??? 5. Profit. Share this post Link to post
GhoztMan 219 Posted March 10, 2011 Gaming! Hot new-ish games: StarCraft 2, Magicka, MineCraft, Super Meat Boy, Bulletstorm, Civilization 5, [soon: Portal 2, Crysis 2] Origami! Very good to pass time, can show off to friends and make cool stuff - the Internets have awesome guides Painting! If you like arts and stuff Hiking! If you have good nature spots Watching videos! Some of my favorite subscriptions on the youtubes: Toboscus (gaming + funniest home videos-esque show + LITERAL trailers), HuskyStarCraft (high level sc2 commentary, entertaining), Day9 (high level sc2 commentary, in depth), davidr64yt (let's play), KurtHugoSchneider (moosic), Total Halibut (gaming + british accent), remembertomorrow0 (clips from Destiny's SC2 stream). Also, streaming: Justin.tv is probably the best, but Ustream works too. I mainly watch Destiny because he has a hilarious voice and personality + plays with top level players and streams all the time. Day9 streams daily at 7 PST, tune in on mondays for a usually hilarious episode. Usually lasts an hour~. Share this post Link to post
Speedskater 167 Posted March 11, 2011 I've done to much of art to try and get good at it ha it always fails, hiking...well I do something along those lines for training, and oragami is a good suggestion because all you need is paper I suppose thanks ghoztman. and I want to lay off videogames for this "hobby". Thanks gloopie for your suggestions I think the keychain thing is really cool. I have a guitar and a piano. Only problem with the guitar is I'd need to buy new strings, learn how to tune and maybe some lessons (which I'm not sure I want to do). Share this post Link to post
JoshJayK 16,648 Posted March 11, 2011 Piano's always fun. Improvising can really lead to cool results, and it's a good way to vent. :P Share this post Link to post
Speedskater 167 Posted March 11, 2011 Do you think that the piano could be self taught? Share this post Link to post
Speedskater 167 Posted March 12, 2011 Actually I might get into knife making which would be pretty cool and I can always sell them. Share this post Link to post
neoliu918 0 Posted March 13, 2011 If you have lot of free time, why not try to read some books? I think this will help to play your time. Share this post Link to post
Speedskater 167 Posted March 13, 2011 Well yes I could read books however something new and beneficial seems entertaining and well beneficial. even though an argument saying that reading is useful I don't want to really read ha. Share this post Link to post
ViperSRT3g 224 Posted March 27, 2011 Goopy, do you know where I could purchase a couple of these tritium keychains? Google turned up a lot of private sellers from off the wall forums, and that's it. :[ Or places that sell the tritium vials/capsules separately. Then I could make plastic ones from scratch myself. Gloopie 70 Posted March 28, 2011 The only place I know that sells tritium keychains or seperate vials, is probably that forums you were referring to. xD Heres the guy that sells them seperately... http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?242634-B-rt-s-Tritium-Thread-Part-Deux And look around here, if you want to see if anybody is selling... http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/forumdisplay.php?108-WTS-Other-Personal Share this post Link to post
