XGhozt 410 Posted January 26, 2012 Well, there's good news and bad news. Good news is, it worked. Bad news is, it didn't; there's another bill coming up as well to accomplish basically the same thing. Share this post Link to post
Timmy1 3 Posted January 26, 2012 I bet if some of those old idiots would actually look and experience the internet. T.T Share this post Link to post
Brownie Man 41 Posted January 26, 2012 Btw if you notice sites are being taken down without sopa, in fact from what I think sopa would only block us users from viewing some sites which you can get around but actually taking it down is much worse and megaupload (although abused much more) has the same sort of set up as sites like youtube/facebook/twitter etc where you the user can choose to break the TOS and upload illegal content and then they are obliged to take it down. For that reason megaupload is pretty much innocent because they do in fact take down links, but the feds went in with their bs mumbo jumbo and slapped kim dotcoms mouth shut. Sopa doesnt mean shit Share this post Link to post
GhoztMan 219 Posted January 26, 2012 Well, SOPA and PIPA were pretty much dead, but the postponement was just a ruse... they are both still alive and kicking. Also as papa Ghozt said, another bill joins the ranks: "Online Protection and Enforcement of Digital Trade" or OPEN, which is basically the same thing. Yet another bill is threatening us as well: "The Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act of 2011" And with a name like that, no one wants to say anything bad about it. The language in it is broad just as in SOPA and the rest: "under language approved 19 to 10 by a House committee, the firm that sells you Internet access would be required to track all of your Internet activity and save it for 18 months, along with your name, the address where you live, your bank account numbers, your credit card numbers, and IP addresses you've been assigned." Also, there is ACTA which is the European version of SOPA.. but it could have an effect on every country depending on who signs it. It's also far more aggressive than SOPA, and could have a much worse affect. what the fuck sources: http://www.theatlant...or-good/242853/ http://www.blacklist.../0/0/0/Y/M.html 1 Share this post Link to post
