Want to Upgrade Ghoztcraft?

Hey everyone! I have some intresting news I want to ask you a question.

 

Invision Power Board has recently released a new version of its board. Now, the thing is that this version is freaking awesome, but its sooo updated that we lose just about all of the mods we have installed. But on the good side, new mods are being released, like every day. So, I will be upgrading in the future if we dont do it now.

This upgrade has like over 100 new things and bug fixs, and its secure. Look at this site: http://www.salvationgaming.com/forums/index.php?

 

That is the new version, view someones profile, and look at the post screen, and notice the skin, its clean. There are no new skins out for this version yet, so we will have that, I will edit the colors so it's still got a Ghoztcraft feel to it. That site is on the same server as this one, so notice the speed of it, thats how fast Ghoztcraft will be.

 

So, what do you guys say? Is it worth it, or should we wait like a few more months and then upgrade, or should we just keep what we have and deal with it.

I think it might be worth a shot, I will set the forums to offline and upgrade it after making backups, this way I can always just revert is too many people complain.

I say we should totally do it. The update looks very good, and like you said clean. Whats even better is that it loads like at warp speed...lmao.

Yes, you keep all your ghoztpoints, and all taht stuff. Its just there might not be an army system for a while. Some members want to attempt to raise $100 and get the RPG system, we can talk about that later. Its just going to be basic Ghoztcraft for a few weeks and things will slowly start to come back together.

Questions

If we close the army system, will everything stay the same or are we basically resetting it?

Should everyone sell all their weapons and equipment before the upgrade?

 

When are you going to upgrade Ghoztcraft?

72 hours...... sounds like a weekend project :P. Weekends should be the best because ppl are on and there can still be discussion! About the AS.... will it be reset? and what about the money in the casino? is the mods the only thing that is going to be lost? too bad it isnt something else. It seems that there are plenty of mods install on the site.

 

hmmmmm 72 hours = 3 days...... Start thursday and end like sunday?? sine u aint gonna work 3 days straight :P. I wouldn't do that... I would get tired of editing after about maybe 4 to 5 hours. and pick up after like 2 to 3 more.

Probably do it tomorrow, or next Monday, it depends on how it goes, so far I aint see anyone say no, so I have no reason to wait. And, let me put it into perspective.

 

Everything that is being upgraded is the files and some database entries. Now, the thing is that the posts and all that junk are all stored in the database on the server. So, running the update will only update the invision power board files and database entries. The other customly added mods and files, and database junk wont be touched. Its just going to be like putting everything on hold.

 

I expect that by the time the army system is back online, everyone will be millionairs :P

So, its like putting half of Ghoztcraft on "pause".

 

Understand now everyone? If they ever remake that mod for IPB 2.2 then we install it, all the data that was there before, will be automatically implemented into the updated mod.

 

 

Edit: Nothing will be lost, just some of it wont be usable for a while. The posts, pm's, members, bleh bleh, is still all there. The skins will be for sure, although I will try to make one, or upgrade an old one for the new version.

Um... when exactly tomorrow, because I always keep my account as marked on vacation because I get so much money gain I got sick of being every1s personal bank.

I don't know when dude, Its not like Ghoztcraft is the only thing I ever do. I'm a fairly busy person, I have a decent social life as well, so I try to balance it. So, when I have like 4 hours to sit down and gather up all the mods and get to work, I will. Hopefully I can do it tomorrow, or at least start and get the forums back up so people can post while I Finnish everything else.

 

Well, does anyone have any objections? So far everyone seems to be looking forward to it.
